Menart

A new website for a record label and its catalogue

Visit site

A new website for Menart, the Zagreb record label: new releases, news and music videos up front, a page for every artist and release, and content the label's own team edits in Decap CMS.

Drag, swipe or scroll through the crate; the record you stop on goes on the turntable (in the margin, or the corner on phones), which turns as you scroll the page.

Menart is a record label from Zagreb. Its new website, launching in October 2026, puts the label's releases, artists, news and music videos in one place, and lets the people at Menart keep it up to date themselves.

New releases first

The home page opens on a carousel of new release covers over a blurred copy of the artwork, then moves through the latest news, the music videos, and rows of albums and artists. The video in the middle plays muted in place, with a button to turn the sound on. On tablets and phones the rows drag and swipe.

The whole catalogue

Every artist and every release has a page of its own: 359 artists and 551 releases at launch. Artists can be browsed by letter or narrowed to Menart's own roster and its children's releases, and releases filter into domestic, foreign and children's. A release page carries the cover, the track list and the publisher, with links to listen on streaming services or to buy the record from the Menart webshop, which we rebuilt in 2025.

Search as you type

Search opens over whatever page you are on. Results appear while you type, with artists, releases and news marked apart, and a full results page filters them by type. The index is a single file generated with the site, so searching needs no server.

Edited by the label

The site is built ahead of time as static HTML with Astro, close to a thousand pages of it. Artists, releases, news, events and every page's copy live in the repository as structured content, and the label's team edits them in Decap CMS, signing in with Netlify Identity. Each save becomes a commit and a fresh build. That gives the label a full CMS with no database, no server to pay for or maintain, and no CMS subscription. The first version read its content from DatoCMS; in March 2026 we moved it into the repository and switched the editor to Decap.

On phones

Layouts stack into a single column, the artist index wraps into a compact A–Z grid, and the home page rows become swipeable carousels. The footer carries the newsletter sign-up, the social links and the label's EU funding notice.
