Biokovo relief projection
Projection mapping on a relief model of Biokovo
Four animated themes, from geology to mythology, projection-mapped onto a relief model of the Biokovo mountain range. Visitors choose one by scanning a code.
A relief model of the Biokovo mountain range, 180 by 70 centimeters, built in segments and joined on site. Visitors pick a theme by scanning a code at the exhibit, and the mountain comes alive with one of four animations:
- Geology and geomorphology. A geological map of Biokovo, drawn onto the terrain.
- Geography. The highest peaks, gorges, valleys, sinkholes and other landforms.
- Flora and fauna. The most important plants and animals, appearing in their habitats with narration, the wolf among them.
- Mythology. The land behind Biokovo is full of stories about fairies and magical creatures, and some of them play out on the mountain.
How we did it
The process was the same as for our Neretva relief. We 3D-scanned the hand-made model, cleaned up the scan and fitted the data to it, then made animations to match the surface.
The Biokovo model was more accurate than the Neretva one, which made alignment easier. With less water to animate, the focus shifted to the mountain itself.
